Project Overview
This project replaced deteriorated and undersized wood floor beams with new structural steel beams and columns in an existing building in New York City. Age, moisture and insect damage meant the original wood beams no longer provided adequate support for the floor system above.
Following a structural engineering assessment, our team planned the sequence of work carefully to maintain the building’s structural integrity throughout the replacement.
Temporary shoring supported the floor loads while each wood beam was removed and the new steel member installed in its place, connected with engineered steel hardware. The result is a far stronger, safer floor system with decades of reliable service life.
Scope of Work
- Temporary shoring system installation
- Removal of deteriorated wood beams
- New structural steel beams and columns
- Engineered connection hardware
- Coordination with licensed structural engineer
